There are many multi-purpose,
portable storage and carrying containers that provide
flexibility when arranging and storing supplies. Portable
storage also allows participants to carry materials anywhere in
the room.
Portable containers can include:
A shoe box can be used to organize
supplies such as pencils, pens, crayons, and loose craft items.
A coffee can be used to hold small
items such as pencils, pens, crayons, and markers.
A basket can be used to transport
items and to store items that are too big for other containers.
A rice bag can be used for small,
loose items (scissors, paperclips) or activities that
participants will complete independently (math manipulatives,
games, and puzzles).
A Pocket Chart can hold items such
as stories, small books, cards, and game pieces.
An ‘old lunch box’ can be used ‘as
is’, painted or covered with paper or fabric for crayons, game
pieces, cards, felt pens and so on. It can also be used for a
collection of
pebbles, shells, or other
manipulatives.
A plastic liter bottle can be used
as a portable carrier filled with crayons, pens, scissors, and
rulers. Cut a window in a side panel to provide easy access to
the supplies.
A plastic basket can be used to
hold A4 paper, colored paper, checklists, evaluation forms, old
magazines, old calendars, a variety pf other materials.
A cereal box can be used for
organizing forms such as registration form, KWL activity,
evaluation forms, and so.
An egg carton can be used to store
small items such as paper clips, pins, tacks, erasers, string,
and pencil sharpeners
